Walt Disney World

Side bar Article: Pre-Opening Cards that never were
Thanks to David Hooper for the idea for
this page and also for the wonderful scans on it.
None of the "postcards" on this page were ever actually produced as
postcards, but these images of unbuilt concepts were done by the same artists
that did the art that appeared on the pre-opening art postcards and
If these resorts had been added perhaps these views would have actually
been the first postcards of these resorts!
Above you see a Walt Disney World Pre-opening card . . . well, sort of. You see,
this card was never sold at the resort or pre-opening center
. . . well, at least not as a postcard.
The above image actually from the covers (front and back)
of a pre-opening book that was sold
in the preview center. I also edited it a little bit first
to join the two halves of the covers which
were somewhat damaged at the edges, luckily most of
the edge areas were water and not difficult to fill.
On the cards below most of the editing was limited
to croping the pictures to postcard like dimensions
and adding the logos. Actually even if phase two had
gone ahead this might not have ever been a card considering the fact that
there was alread a perfectly good Map Card
in the "Phase I" pre-opening cards.
